Opening Day 31 March Place: Auditorium, Erasmus University Rotterdam Theme: The Power to Change Time: Afternoon ID Compulsory The Opening Day represents the Grand Opening of the EFR-Business Week. During this day the EFR-Business Week will be introduced and internationally renowned speakers will discuss contemporary issues around the central theme "The Power to Change". In previous years this day was attended by the likes of Mr. Arafat, Mr. Schröder, Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Boutros-Ghali. This year, confirmed speakers on the Opening Day include two of the major players in European politics. Mr. Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, currently presiding over the EU will be present. Next to Mr. Klaus, Mr. Juncker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg and President of the Euro-group will be in Rotterdam to discuss Europe, the euro and economics. The Euro-group is an influential group of finance ministers. Mr. Klaus and Mr. Juncker differ profoundly in their views on the future of Europe, which should allow for a lively debate! In addition, two chief executives of major European banks, the Deutsche Bank and the Rabobank will discuss the current economic situation. Both Dr. Ackermann and Mr. Heemskerk have pointed out they are extremely willing to answer questions from students! The Opening Day will take place in the renewed "Aula" of university which can be host to up to 900 people. As this year the EFR-Business Week celebrates its 25th edition, several partners of EFR have been invited to join the Opening Day.
